POMPEI - VESUVIUS
“Wherever I went in the world, I saw that a little bit of Naples was needed” (Luciano De Crescenzo).
The Archaeological Excavations of Pompeii are a fascinating journey into the past.
The eruption of 79 A.D.
The famous eruption of Vesuvius on 24 August 79 AD caused the destruction of Pompeii and archaeological excavations bear witness to this, whose remains, buried after the eruption, have been preserved almost intact to the present day.
The excavations have brought to light a large amount of valuable finds. To date, the Pompeii excavations represent the third most visited state museum site in Italy, surpassed only by the Pantheon and the Colosseum with the Roman Forum. In addition, the archaeological park of Pompeii has become part, together with the excavations of Herculaneum and Oplonti, of

Vesuvius is the volcano that dominates the entire Gulf of Naples. It is located practically south-east of the city, inside a basin 4 km in diameter, which is what remains of Monte Somma, probably sunk in the calamity of 79 AD.
It rises a whopping 1281 meters (2010 estimate) with a crater of 450 meters in diameter.
It is possible to follow the suggestive path that leads them to the Great Cone, that is, the inner crater, an area from which you can admire the most beautiful view of the coast, the sea and the immense province of Naples.
