Ostia Antica was brought back to light during the excavation that took place in the fascism period. It’s the second most important surviving Roman city in Italy after the archeological area of Pompeii. Ostia was the main port which supplied Rome not only with all the goods but also gave the city a form of protection from all the possible attacks from the sea.
A detailed walk will help visitors understand and realize how everyday life took place in those days between Insule (Homes), Theaters, Templesand Thermal Baths.
Ostia is about 15 miles (45 minutes based on traffic) south from the center of Rome. We provide transfer to and back from Ostia and a local official guide for 3hrs approx. inside the ruins.
The Ostia Antica tour usually starts at 8AM. It is not necessary to buy tickets in advance. Tickets will be bought at the ticket office at the entrance to the archaeological site
For all bookings of day tours, a minimum of 24 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours notice, no refund is given.
For all bookings of multi-day and custom private tours, a minimum of 72 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 72 hours' notice, no refund is given*
